Halfmoon Campground

is the only campground on the East side of the Crazy Mountains. It is situated at the head of Big Timber Creek Canyon, about 5 miles further up the county road from where Montana Cabin Rentals is located. Half Moon Campground features 12 campsites and 6 outhouse facilities. It is a well-kept, clean site. While Halfmoon Campground is open year round, access in the winter months is limited because the winter weather.

 

Half Moon Campground is also the trailhead for Forest Service maintained hiking/horseback riding trails which go deep into the Crazy Mountains. These trails follow Big Timber Creek as it winds and rushes from high-up glacial lakes in the Crazy Mountains. During your stay at our Montana Cabin Rentals, it is definitely worth it to take advantage of these hiking trails. Have a picnic at the powerful Big Timber Falls which is only a quarter-mile hike from the trailhead at Half Moon Campground, or pack your fishing pole to one of the many hidden lakes further up. Or, for the experienced mountain climber, find your challenge in summitting the jagged peaks the trails will lead you to.
